Scope of Works
Initially, the existing library fittings were stripped out and all services isolated to allow for the timber cladding to be removed and disposed of from the walls and ceiling. New electrical and mechanical services (air handling units, external condenser, down lighters, luminaires, small power & data and DNX lights) were installed. A new supporting wall for the video wall was instated along with the installation of 12 new video screens. All associated carpentry and decoration works were carried out allowing the new analysts pod to be installed. This pod area was completely glazed area 2.980m high with a high level of sound insulation. Floor finishes were then completed with the commissioning of services.
As this is was a live working site with constant employee, client and visitor traffic ensuring minimum disruption was a major factor for the project.
A privacy film was applied to the reception side of the glazing along with a 50mm protective foam sheeting secured to the reverse. Together these provided glazing protection and acted as a sound insulation.
A traffic management plan was created outlining works vehicles were only to park only in permitted parking bays and the back side door was to be used as the main site entrance. All deliveries and sub-contractor visits were planned in advance with the agreement of the Site Supervisor.
As per all of our contracts, housekeeping and materials storage rules always applied. This ensured that the site was kept in a clean, tidy and workmanlike manner at all times with dust sheeting utilised cutting/sawing being carried out within the site perimeter outside.
The works were completed on time, in budget and in line with the project programme.
They now have a state of the art library facility which is enjoyed by the Metrological Operations Team along with a new meeting place for staff and visitors.
