Driver / Priming Painter

Comserv are looking for an experienced driver who can assist with maintaining a tidy warehouse and ensuring goods are loaded into and unloaded from vehicles without being damaged. The postholder will work supporting other members of the team and will work on some tasks specifically allocated to them including priming and painting.

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles in a safe and tidy manner
  • Using company vehicle, drive stock out to our operatives on site
  • Assist warehouse staff with the stacking of goods on their relevant shelves
  • Assist with the priming and painting of goods before delivery to site (e.g., door and window frames)
  • Assist with the delivery of larger/heavier goods to site (e.g., kitchen/bathroom equipment), where able
  • Help with maintaining a clean and tidy warehouse
  • Ensure that all duties undertaken are carried out in accordance with good risk management and health and safety policies.

 


 

Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Wet Room Fitter

Comserv have a vacancy for a full time Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) Wet Room Fitter.

This role will involve the removal of existing bathing facilities in occupied/void properties, and the installation of either a level access shower or a shower tray. This can also involve the relocation of toilet and wash hand basin facilities within the bathrooms to enable better showering facilities. Occasionally the role will involve the widening of door openings, and the demolition of built in cupboards. All showering facilities require grab rails, and shower seats installed as per the Occupational Heath specification per property.

Applicants must have experience in the following:

  • Installing Glass Fibre-reinforced Plastic (GRP) shower tray formers (AKW Tuff form trays as an example)
  • Installing Glass Fibre-reinforced Plastic (GRP) shower trays
  • Installing shower screens, doors, and curtains
  • Good plumbing skills, with the ability to alter domestic hot and cold pipework in copper with soldered fittings
  • Installing and commissioning electric showers or shower mixer valves
  • Good knowledge of drainage and the ability to problem solve issues to enable suitable waste pipe runs and connections
  • Wall tiling with ceramic wall tiles
  • Fitting decorative shower wall boarding is essential for this role
  • Basic carpentry refitting skirtings and doors, making pipe boxing
  • Basic patch plastering (following old wall tile removal)
  • Must be willing to strip wall paper, and knock walls down to enlarge rooms
  • Must be willing to carry out decorating
  • Ability to latex level floors desirable but not essential

All electrical works will be carried out by Comserv’s in-house electricians.

All applicants must have good communication skills and be patient with customer needs.

Must be able to liaise with other trades and supervisors to understand the specifications.

Good organisational skills are essential to ensure that inconvenience to customers is kept to a minimum, especially with the removal of bathing and WC facilities.

Applicants must have a good sense of health and safety awareness when working in occupied properties.

This role is full time hours of Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm, with a 30-minute break for lunch.

 


Kitchen Fitter

Comserv have a vacancy for a full time Kitchen Fitter.

This role involves working in occupied/void properties to completely remove existing kitchens and replacing with new kitchen units, worktop, and sink. The kitchen will be predesigned by Comserv and delivered to the property. Worktops are joined with aluminium worktop strips, and units are made up but require doors and drawer fronts to be fitted. Walls will be tiled with a minimum of three rows of ceramic tiles as a splash back over worktops. Floors will be tiled with vinyl floor tiles. Walls are occasionally decorated. Kitchen doors are occasionally upgraded to FD30 fire doors. Cooking and washing facilities must be usable for the customer at the end of each day.

Applicants must have experience in the following:

  • Reading kitchen plans
  • Good plumbing skills, with the ability to alter domestic hot and cold pipework in copper with soldered fittings 
  • Excellent carpentry skills essential to enable the scribing and fitting of both kitchen units and worktops to existing walls
  • Fitting internal timber doors
  • Basic plastering skills with the ability to fill and make good walls following old wall tile removal and first fix of electrical chases
  • Wall tiling with ceramic wall tiles essential
  • Latex levelling concrete floor
  • Laying vinyl floor tiles
  • Coring drill holes for tumble driers and extractor fans
  • Demolishing brick larders
  • Must be willing to carry out decorating including stripping wall paper where necessary
  • Must be willing to move and refit customer’s appliances during the kitchen refit

All electrical works will be carried out by Comserv’s in-house electricians.

Non-licensed Asbestos Labourer

Comserv are looking to recruit a Non-licensed Asbestos Labourer to work as part of a 2-man team following strict company and legal processes to remove materials containing asbestos from domestic properties. Ideally, we would like you to have had previous experience of carrying out an asbestos removal role, however it is not essential.

The types of materials you will be removing may include but not limited to:

  • Textured coatings from ceilings and walls (artex)
  • Old WC cisterns and seats
  • Roof verge cloaking’s
  • Pipe boxings

The ideal candidate must hold a full UK driving licence of at least 3 years or more and be able to drive a larger panel van. 

Candidates must have basic building skills to be able to carry out the following:

  • Latex floors following the removal of floor tiles
  • Be able to cut timber battens and form basic frames to cover in polythene
  • To be able to paint or spray PVA onto various surfaces
  • Remove panels fixed with screws and nails

For this role you must be willing to work in a sealed room or location wearing the correct Personal protective equipment (PPE), candidates must also be willing to work at heights from scaffolds, towers, ladders etc up to four floors when removing the asbestos from roofs. The Personal protective equipment (PPE) you be required to wear will include the following:

  • SR100 / SR900 Mask Respirator (If you have facial hair, you will need to be clean shaven)
  • Protective suit
  • Gloves
  • Goggles
  • Steel toe capped Boots

The ideal person will be able to display the following:

  • Must follow the correct processes which requires a good standard of reading and writing to be able to follow method statements and write up job records.
  • Previous experience working within social housing contracts or undertaking domestic repairs, ideally including non-licensed asbestos material removal
  • Able to work with other trades undertaking preparation works
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly

 


Service Co-ordinator

In this busy, co-ordinating role the main part of your duties will include, but are not limited to: Arranging for Operatives to attend Residents' properties on the day and time that are provided to us, as well as updating and maintaining the Comserv Database with details of these appointments and completed works in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of entries.

You will also provide general clerical and administrative support including data processing, maintenance of department records, telephone answering and message taking.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous telephone experience

Approved Electrician

Comserv are looking for full-time Electricians/Testers who have 17th/18th edition or equivalent experience to undertake electrical repairs and maintenance work.

Responsibilities and Duties include but not limited to:<

  • Fault-Finding.
  • Responsive Repairs.
  • Replacing accessories such as sockets, switches, external lighting etc
  • Installation of extractors.
  • Installation/replacement of consumer units.
  • Inspection and Testing of electrical installations.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will be able to display:

  • 17th/18th Edition or equivalent experience
  • C&G 2391 Testing and installation, or equivalent qualification, desirable.
  • Good Communication Skills.

General Labourer

Comserv are looking to recruit a Labourer to work as part of our 2-man teams. Our labourers work with our Groundworks, Drainage, Roofing & Rubbish collection teams, as well as helping with non-licensed asbestos removal following strict company and legal processes to remove materials containing asbestos from domestic properties.

The ideal candidate must hold a full UK driving licence of at least 3 years or more and be able to drive a larger panel van.

This role involves all aspects of labouring work and can include manual handling, digging and working at height from scaffolds, towers, ladders etc up to four floors. Candidates must also be willing to work in a sealed room or location wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking non-licensed asbestos removal. The personal protective equipment (PPE) you be required to wear will include the following:

  • SR100 / SR900 Mask Respirator (If you have facial hair, you will need to be clean shaven)
  • Protective suit
  • Gloves
  • Goggles
  • Steel toe capped Boots

You will also be asked to follow strict Covid safety rules, including wearing a face covering when sharing a Company vehicle.

The ideal person will be able to display the following:

  • Must follow the correct processes which requires a good standard of reading and writing to be able to follow method statements and write up job records.
  • Previous experience working within social housing contracts or undertaking domestic repairs, ideally including non-licensed asbestos material removal
  • Able to work with other trades undertaking preparation works

Carpenter (Fire Doors)

As a result of additional ongoing workload, we are looking for a Carpenter who has a particular interest in repairs and new fits of doors, including external, internal and fire doors. Experience of Garage door repairs would also be an advantage.

Reporting to our Supervisor, duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Fitting Fire Doors, front doors and internal doors
  • Undertaking all aspects of repairs & maintenance work in relation to doors (given your skill set) to the required standards
  • Assisting with any other carpentry repairs & maintenance (within your skills set)
  • Assessing the work requirements when you get to site.
  • Communicating with the Call Centre in an accurate and timely manner via telephone to gain each job and to update the service co-ordinators with the work you believe is required and what you have subsequently undertaken.
  • Working Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 17:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

The ideal Carpenter will be able to display the following:

  • A full, clean driving licence

Carpenter / Multi Trader

Comserv are looking for a Multi-Trade Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have not only their main trade as a Carpenter but will also have proven experience undertaking a variety of jobs in a reactive maintenance environment.

Responsibilities and Duties, reporting to the Supervisor, your duties will include but not limited to:

Multi Trade Carpenter:

  • Undertaking all aspects of repairs/maintenance work (given your skill set) to the required quality standards.
  • Assessing the work requirements when you get to site.
  • Communicating with the Call Centre in an accurate and timely manner via telephone to gain each job and to update the service co-ordinators with the work you believe is required and what you have subsequently undertaken.
  • Ensuring that you follow the Company’s safe working practices and safety procedures at all times

 The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Previous Carpentry and Plumbing experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Needs to be good with working at heights, either ladders or scaffold

Predominantly you will be working on your own and also be willing to assist other trades as and when required.

Comserv are looking for full-time Glazier to join our team of operatives.

This role will be to work on a local authority contract to undertake repairs and maintenance activities in the Portsmouth area.

Duties will include:

  • Undertaking all aspects of glazing to the required quality standards; in particular you will need to be able to:

o Measure for replacements glass both single- and double-glazed panes

o Fit both single pane and double-glazed panes

o Identify, replace or repair multipoint locking mechanisms, handles and hinges to both UPVC and composite doors

o Replace or repair casement handles, locking mechanisms and friction stays

o Carry out minor plastic repairs including cleaning and buffing to UPVC profiles and cills

o Replace bubble or wedge gaskets and beads to both aluminium and UPVC profiles.

o Remove interior or exterior silicon sealants/trims and reseal with new trims and sealant.

o Gain entry to euro profile cylinders by drilling/snapping

o Assessing the work requirements when you get to site.

o Communicating with the Call Centre in an accurate and timely manner via telephone to gain each job and to update the service co-ordinators with the work you believe is required and what you have subsequently undertaken.

o Ensuring that you follow the Company’s safe working practices and safety procedures at all times.

o Liaising with tenants on site regarding the work you are undertaking.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Good general glazing skills and experience
  • Willing to erect and work from aluminium towers (Pasma training will be given by Comserv)

Plasterer

Are you looking for a rewarding career with a local company? Then Comserv could be your next career move. We are looking to recruit an experienced Plasterer/Painter to join our friendly team based in Havant.

This role will be Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

Duties will include but not limited to:

* Be prepared to remove any defective wall or ceiling finish in preparation for the application of a new base coat or finish plaster.

* Apply up to 6mm multi-finish plaster to a high standard to any wall or ceiling surface, including the use of any stainless steel or plastic beads where necessary.

* Apply sand and cement base coat and 6mm multi-finish plaster to a high standard to any wall or ceiling surface, including the use of stainless steel or plastic beads where necessary.

* Apply 2 coats of sand and cement render coat finish, including the use of any stainless steel/plastic beads where necessary.

* Apply textured coating, Artex to a basic pattern (e.g. Stipple, broken leather or basic comb pattern).

* Be able to replace plasterboard to any wall or ceiling, including any new noggins, battens and fixings or dot and dab.

* Dry line caulk and fill.

* Willing to work at heights using aluminium tower scaffold, fixed scaffold, ladders or steps.

* Be able to paint with a mist coat to newly dried plaster finishes.

* Treat mould with fungicidal washes.

* Bonding porous surfaces with either PVA, SBR or similar.

* Screed Floors.

* Must also be willing to undergo training for non-licensed asbestos removal to be able to remove or repair textured coatings like Artex etc.
